Additional information

Production details

There are three kinds of carbon steel depending on the content of carbon.

Low carbon steel/mild steel(up to 0.3% carbon)

Low carbon steel and mild steel is good for cutting and welding and suit for using as chain, bolt, shaft etc.

Medium carbon steels (0.3–0.6% carbon)

Its thermal processing and cutting is good. The welding performance is poor than low carbon steel.

Its strength and hardness are higher than low carbon steel.

It is widely using at construction industry and mechanical parts etc.

High carbon steels (more than 0.6% carbon)

High carbon steel have the highest carbon steel content and hardness. At the same time, it has poor plasticity.

Carbon steel can be divided into cold-rolled steel and hot-rolled steel according to different processing methods.

What is the difference between hot rolled steel and cold rolled steel?

Hot rolled steel coil is steel plate that is rolled at a high temperature above 1,000Celsius, making the steel easier to manipulate.

Different application:

Hot-rolled steel is mainly using for construction, rail Industry.

Cold rolled steel is mainly using for home applications, metal container etc.

Thickness:

Hot rolled steel thickness is 0.35mm-200mm.

Cold rolled steel thickness is 0.2-0.4mm.

Surface:

Cold rolled steel is with bright surface.

By contrast hot rolled is dark gray.

Hot rolled steel hardness is lower than cold rolled steel. It is easy to process, bending etc.

Cold rolled steel hardness is with higher hardness and strength. It means the cold rolled is hard to process than hot rolled at the same time. There are no oxide layer on the surface of cold rolled. At the same time, it also has various superior mechanical properties, especially in processing performance.

Price:

Hot rolled steel price is lower than cold rolled. Cold rolled steel requires high mill power machine, low rolling efficiency and high cost.
